Amal Clooney Stirs Up Controversy with Fashion Change

As everyone knows, the Met Gala is one of the biggest fashion moments of the year. All of the stars of stage and cinema gather together to pay homage to fashion and to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum. Every year on this special day, a theme is given to the celebrities and their teams, encouraging them to be more creative than they would normally be. For the 2018 gala, the theme was “heavenly bodies,” so many celebs hit the red carpet with religion-inspired apparel. And one of the most divisive outfits of the evening was Amal Clooney’s.

The lawyer decided to switch up her red carpet attire at the last minute, choosing Brit designer Richard Quinn instead of Tom Ford. Reports have indicated that Ford’s team was not happy about this choice. After all, they had been under the impression that Clooney was going to wear their custom gown—a ravishing red number designed to imitate a stained glass window—on the red carpet. They requested that if Clooney was not going to wear it on the red carpet, she should not wear it at all. This way, they could give the dress to another celebrity for a different special event. However, Clooney did not comply, wearing the controversial Quinn number, which included pants, on the red carpet and then changing into Ford’s gown for the after-party. As the co-chair of the event, alongside Rihanna and Donatella Versace, perhaps she felt she had some creative license.
