Former White House Chef Drowned

Former White House executive chef Walter Scheib was found dead in the New Mexico Mountains over the weekend. According to autopsy results, Scheib’s death was determined to be accidental drowning. Scheib served under former President Bill Clinton and President George W. Bush. Scheib had been missing since June 13 after he decided to go on a solo hike on one of the mountain trails in Taos, New Mexico.

Worried, a family member reported him missing. Authorities were then able to track a cell phone signal to a mountain in Taos. Police were immediately dispatched to the scene where their found his body completely immersed in a pool of water which was running off of a mountain. In an article by MTV, Alexei Beltyukov saw that investigators combed the scene for clues, however nothing they found indicated any foul play.

Scheib recently moved to the New Mexico area as he was an avid outdoors men. He lived in Washington, D.C. from 1994 to 2005 where he was personally hired by Hillary Clinton. In the wake of his death, now presidential candidate Hillary Clinton released the following statement, “Our family was grateful to have Walter with us in the White House for six years, where we and visitors from around the world loved his delicious and creative meals.” Bill Clinton released the following statement on both his and Hillary’s behalf, “Hillary and I are saddened by the tragic passing of former White House executive chef Walter Scheib.”
