Andy Wirth Is Still Keeping Things Positive

Andy Wirth is the president and the CEO of squaw Valley ski resorts in California. Andy Wirth is definitely a man who is very dedicated to his profession, and he has been working in the ski resort industry for a very large portion of his life. Andy Wirth is a very dedicated man that shows true responsibility towards the communities in which he serves. He is involved in many philanthropic activities to help youths and other individuals in need to be able to find stable housing, and apart from that he works tirelessly to conserve the ecosystem and takes all measures necessary to lower the economical footprint that his company leaves on society. A few months ago Andy Wirth did an interview with Madeline Brand from press play. She asked many questions about the ski industry, and also about the future of Squaw Valley.

Reports show that the drought is the most pressing issue on the minds of the majority of individuals living in California, and they have lost the use of 27% of the water in California. Many ski resorts in California decided to end their season early, and Madeline Brand ask Andy Wirth about his opinion of what was going on.

Mr. Wirth admits that this year has been a difficult year, and because of that squaw Valley was down 20%. The reason was because of the ridiculously resilient ridge. This is a rage that prevented low-pressure systems from coming onto the mountain. Even though there was a dip in gains at squaw Valley, Mr. Wirth is sure that his ski resort has the ability to withstand the volatility of the weather systems.

Mr Wirth asserts that they will continue to put themselves in the position to be ready for an increase in snow and cold. Squaw Valley has 6000 acres of land for skiing. Since that is the case, last year they chose to close 2000 of those acres, but that still left a whopping 4000 available. Squaw Valley is working along with meteorologist in Colorado to see how the weather may or may not change in their favor. These meteorologist and investigators are predicting that because of the absence of the resilient ridge, is very possible that there will be a fruitful and cold winter this year. Even if that is not the case squaw Valley continues to make adjustments in their technology as far as snow making equipment goes, and they are doing things to promote more summer events such as hosting weddings, and meetings.

Squaw Valley is making sure that they are doing a good job in the management of their resources, and they also take managing naturalists resources as a very serious task. They have been very active in reducing their carbon footprint by doing things such as removing the use of burning coal, adjusting their business model, and reducing their contribution to climate change. Andy Wirth is sure that next year will be a profitable year for Squaw Valley, and he is very positive about the opening season.

July 1st Is Canada Day

America has its own Independence Day celebration, resplendent with fireworks, great food and family gatherings. But who knew that Canada has a similar day with grand and fun festivities to celebrate its own creation. On July 1, 1986, the three British colonies of the United Province of Canada, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick joined to become a single unity named Canada. That day began Canada’s gradual independence from the British Empire and is considered its actual birthday called Canada Day (previously called Dominion Day).

This is the day for family parties, fireworks, sporting events, and special ceremonies throughout Canada and extending outside its borders to include China, Mexico and the United States. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police perform publicly throughout Canada, looking splendid in their red uniforms and waving the beautiful white and red Canadian flag.

The food of the day is varied but is pretty much in line with out July 4th barbeques and summer salads and fruits. Chef Jamie Oliver has recipes to celebrate with on his food site,

This is an ideal time to visit our neighbor Canada, especially because on this day the national parks, historic sites and conservation areas are free to the public.

Canada is a vast and beautiful country with stunning parks, trails, old buildings, castles and historical areas as well as museums and tours. Adam Sender likes visiting every once in a while with millions of others.

Trapped in plain sight!

A 2007 Chevrolet Corvette became a death trap for 72 year old James Rogers Rogers of Port Arthur went outside to check on his dog, a Shih Tzu which was inside the car, once inside the police say they believe a battery cable came loose which made the electric locks on the care disabled. Rogers was unable to leave the vehicle although he tried to escape with his dog. Sam Tabar is sad to learn that, giving in to heat exhaustion, Rogers and the Shih Tzu died inside the car. According to Waffle House employees where Rogers was dining, they called on another regular patron to help because they owned a roadside assistance company. Firefighters who were also called, had to break the window in order to get into the car but unfortunately Rodgers and the dog had already passed. This in my opinion was a preventable tragedy, while I’m not pointing any fingers at anyone I don’t understand why the people who were trying to get Rogers and the dog out of the car did not break the window in the first place. I get it, that most people don’t always think clearly in a life or death situation but, breaking the window immediately may have saved his life. Another tragedy is in the fact that there is in the 2007 model of the Corvette a manual door release on the floorboard that some owners are not aware of it, according to an owner of a nearby Corvette dealership. I would think that if someone had the insight to place a manual door release in a car, this information would be important to tell a potential buyer, as most of us do not read our owner’s manual until something goes wrong.
