Veronica Dagher, a Wall Street Journal Wealth Adviser columnist, held an interview with David Giertz. The Interview mainly touched on the necessity of financial advisers like David to talk to their customers on matters about social security. A survey executed by the Nationwide Financial Retirement Institute by SoundCloud.com revealed that most advisers were not talking to their clients about social security. In fact, four out of five customers claimed that they would switch their adviser if they did not advise them on social security.

According to David, the complexity of the social security handbook was the main reason why advisers were avoiding the topic. The handbook has 2700 rules, which makes it even more complex. Financial advisers need to take the social security issue seriously since it could make up to 40% of their client’s income retirement planning process.

The Roles of Economists in the Globalized World

Globalization has many aspects of human existence and this included the way we interact in business. This changes have been brought about by several factors that has caused an unavoidable interdependence among nations of the world. As such our economic structures have changed from localized to globalized structure. With the great emphasis on the world’s economy, trained professionals in this particular area have been on high demand and so are courses in the discipline. Christian Broda one of the greatest economist of all time is a very busy man. He has been an economic and financial consultant to many organizations as well as governments. His expertise is highly sought after by many investors who need financial advisory services.

It is important to understand the roles of economist in order to appreciate their functions and importance in the economy. Economists are trained professionals who are equipped with skills to help allocating resources in order of priority. One of the greatest advantage of economists is that they help their client in avoiding unnecessary spending. Most of the world’s resources are wasted due to lack of planning and prudent prioritising. This is what causes the overspills and waste of resources hence hurting the economy. With the help of economies, businesses, individuals, as well as governments are able to stop such spills and save resources from going to waste.

The role of an economist is also to predict future events in regard to the economy. At this point, it is imperative to be understood that almost all aspects of our lives have an effect on the economy. For instance, food and nutrition does not only affect the economy through sales of these products. A healthy nation has higher prospects of having a better economy compared to a starving nation. On this respect, economist are not only interested on the financial or business aspects of the economy but also relevant social aspects. They interrogate past events and trends to be able to predict the future.

Economists are very important in the society because they help in planning of economic resources and factors of production such as land. Without planning, an economy is doomed to fail. Economists understand the meaning of the economic trends and they can tell when a tragedy is imminent hence help in reducing the chances of it to occur. Some of these events are very complex for the ordinary business peoples to understand or predict. However, economist are trained to understand the trends to predict the short and long-term implications on the economy. For the world to maintain a sustainable economic environment, people need to start paying attention to economists. A perfect example is the prediction of the economic meltdown in 2008/2009.

Marketing, Branding And Business Growth: The Work Of Susan McGalla

Marketing and branding are the two components of what sets a business apart from any other business in its niche. The factors that go into marketing and branding encompass the demographic of consumers a business is trying to reach, the advertising means by which they will be reached, and the unique identity that sets the product or service apart from any other in its industry. The marketing side of business is dominated by creative individuals that bring together a vision of what the finished product looks like, the graphical design and logo that represents it, and often a slogan that consumers come to know or think about when they see the product.

While some small businesses combine marketing in with their other operations and make it an all in one function, most large corporations have marketing and PR departments that handle this part of the business. Perhaps the one medium that has been a game changer in the business marketing landscape has been the internet and the means that it affords both small businesses and large corporations to reach out to even larger audiences. With more affordable graphic design tools, video editing software and other creative media solutions, startup businesses have even more of a chance to brand themselves and grow into large enterprises quickly.

When it comes to individuals that take leadership in marketing, Susan McGalla is one of those people and her work in the marketing field of business is becoming widely recognized. Her background is one that has proven that it doesn’t matter what your gender or status quo is, you can succeed if you put your own effort into doing so. All the way from her early age, her parents taught her the virtues of hard work and how she was going to have to earn her way to the top in the world. Susan did just that all the way from completing her education, to her first job with Joseph Home Company. She worked her way from there to the corporate headquarters of American Eagle, where in a few years she became president of the company. She then went from the retail industry into other markets including real estate and healthcare.

McGalla first really took the stage in marketing when she founded P3 Executive Consulting, a marketing firm that gives solutions to businesses looking to grow and evolve their marketing strategies. Among the clients she serves are the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers franchise, and as her father was a football coach and her family avid followers of the sport, it stands to reason that she too is pleased to promote the game. She has also spoken at conferences and events in the Pittsburgh area, some of which are aimed at young women entrepreneurs and females getting started in their careers, but also at mixed crowds including the Carnegie Mellon University. Yet even Susan will tell you that even though her accomplishments have broken some of the molds in the workplace, she has never made an issue out of them.

3 Reasons Why It Is Really Fun to Help Others

After reading a story about a father and son tandem, who went around helping the homeless in St. Louis, it got me thinking of why I love to help others. I made a list of three reasons I love it and I think you may too!

1) We are given so much and should want to give back

My mother always told me there are people out there who have it worse than you do. She is right and we should always remember that. As we are blessed in those ways, we should always give to those less fortunate as a way of remembering how well we have it and remaining thankful.

2) It doesn’t cost anything to make a difference

Folks like Brian Torchin agree that, while monetary gifts are popular, the giving of time may be as appreciated, if not more. Almost everyone has a few extra minutes and should give it.

3) It will make you a happier person
I am never happier than when I am helping. As someone who has suffered at times with anxiety and depression, there is nothing that will raise my mood more than making a difference in someone else’s life.

More Than a Job

Christopher Calderone is a teacher at Brooks Crossing Elementary school in New Jersey. At 36 years old, Calderone is surpassing his expectations for what he thought his life would be. The teacher just finished the New Jersey Marathon but it wasn’t to make himself feel young. Calderone ran for the sake of a very deserving and very inspiring student. The teacher was already signed up for the marathon but he found some unlikely inspiration. Shaonna Roberts is a 12 year old suffering from a muscular disease that made it difficult for her to walk. While Calderone was training for the marathon, he would continually see Shaonna in the hallway using a walker to get from place to place. When he would be running through a particularly strenuous workouts, he would get a vision of Shaonna. He wouldn’t allow himself to give up; he would focus on how Shaonna didn’t have the option to give up. While training, not only did Calderone use her as inspiration, he went even further and set up a Go Fund Me account in her name. The dedicated teacher raised $3,200 for Shaonna and her medical expenses. Overcome with joy, Shaonna’s family couldn’t thank Calderone enough. Alexei Beltyukov (vimeo.com) is happy to learn that the funds he raised were a surprise to them and he presented it to them after he finished the marathon. Christopher Calderone is a living example of how important teachers are to this country and this world. For him, his job doesn’t stop once the school bell rings. The nurturing and dedication that it takes to inspire and teach children of character goes far beyond the classroom.

Too Dedicated For Your Job?

I was just reading on the site Buzzfeed.com/news, and I can’t believe what I have read. The article was about a young man about 19 years old, being stabbed while delivering pizza in Louisville Ky.. It was reported that a pizza delivery guy collapsed in the hospital after he delivered the pizza there, and they called him lucky. I find it quite stupid on his part he should of just given up everything. Sam Tabar has learned that he only wanted the money and his truck and after all is said an done the delivery guy ends up with several torn muscles and a collapsed lung. I understand the delivery man was young and most likely hadn’t had the experience of an employer who will do everything to get out of paying an increase on insurance including even blaming the crime on the victim, so far not done in this case as we know of it but I wouldn’t be surprised if they try it. Number one and two rule of business. The customer is always right and in case of a robbery don’t resist give up everything. That is too much dedication to company who will only see you as a dollar which most businesses will do. It’s all about the money. He needed to know he was expendable just hope he knows now.

Ever been in an accident so terrifying that you were afraid and scared for life. Well that is what happened to one six year old boy who was burnt on ninety percent of his body and had to endure fifty-eight surgeries.

When Terry McCarty was just six years old, he and his brothers were playing with kerosene in a bowl that was then lit. The bowl was accidently turned over and spilled all over Terry. He was rushed to the hospital where it was found that he had third degree burns over ninety percent of his body. He spent several months in the hospital and had to go through fifty-eight surgeries to repair is burnt skin. Every time a doctor came into his hospital room, he had come to understand that there would be pain.

In October 2011, he applied to a Washington fire service. His application was finally approved in April of 2012. After enduring the grueling weeks of training Terry was finally faced with what he feared the most, a live fire.

He graduated from the training and earned the respect of his fellow classman and other firefighters. After two years though, Terry quit being a firefighter and joined a group that helps children who are victims of burns like his. Please read more about this very brave man.

Restaurant Owner Offers Dumpster Diver a Free Meal

Many people turn a blind eye to the actions and fate of those who are homeless or otherwise so down on their luck as to be considered an outcast of society. But when Ashley Jiron realized that someone was digging around for food in her trash, her response was one of compassion and sorrow rather than annoyance or frustration.

Ashley, the owner of the recently opened sandwich shop in Warr Acres, Oklahoma, recently noticed that several bags of trash outside the restaurant had been broken open and that food scraps which had been there previously were missing.

Her response was to post notice outside the shop, which is called P.B. Jams, to let the person know that they didn’t need to get their next meal from the trash.

“To the person going through our trash for their next meal,
You’re a human being and worth more than a meal from the dumpster. Please come in during business hours for a classic Pb&j;, fresh veggies, and a cup of water at no charge. No questions asked.
-Your friend, the owner”

Jiron is resolved to keep the sign up until the person takes her up on the offer. After the wind blew away the first copy of her note, she reposted it using 30 pieces of tape to ensure it would stay in place this time.

A patron walking in, Flavio Maluf, overheard our conversation and inquired as to why Ashley was doing this good deed and Ashley simply stated that, “I think we’ve all been in that position where we needed someone’s help and we just needed someone to extend that hand and if I can be that one person to extend that hand to another human being then I will definitely do it.”

Man Gives Former Teacher $10,000 As A Gift

A man is paying things forward in his own way and he is making a huge impact on his former teacher’s lives. Kevin Perz was a 1977 graduate of Parkway Central High School which is located in Missouri, but he is still trying to show his former teachers just how much they impacted him on his days as a student there. In the past, Perz has giving thousands of dollars to some of his teachers from back in the day and this time he finally hunted down his former Home Economics teacher and gave her the shock of a lifetime.

According to an article found on reddit and written by ABC news, it took Perz quite a long time to hunt down Maryilyn Mecham, but when he finally did he called her up on the phone and they talked for some time catching up on things. Jaime Garcia Dias has learned that, just two days later, Mecham received a letter in the mail along with a $10,000 check which she was instructed to use on herself by Perz. He also gave her a hand written letter telling her what an awesome teacher she was and she is thinking about using the money to go on a long wanted vacation to her ancestral lands of Scandinavia.

This goes to show that you never know what impact you will have on people and it is important to go back and thank people that have made your life better.

Homeless Man Stops Assault

Ketrell Ferguson, a man who is recently homeless in the Washington DC area, stopped an assault that was taking place past midnight on Tuesday. According to the story on NBC Washington, Ketrell had noticed a struggle between a man and a woman at a bus stop while he was looking for a place to sleep.

Police had said that 23-year-old Alemen Gonzalo offered cash to a woman for sex but she refused the offer. After she refused, Gonzalo dragged her behind a bus stop where he began to assault her. Ketrell heard the struggle and knew that he had to help the woman. He picked up a stick and a brick and confronted Gonzalo. Ketrell began hitting Gonzalo with the stick so that he would leave the woman alone. Ivan Ong (Twitter.com) has learned that police later found Gonzalo a few blocks away, bleeding from his stick wounds.

Ketrell said that he has had female relatives that were assaulted in the past and that he did not want another woman to go through what they did. He went on to say that he was happy that he was in the right place at the right time to help her in her time of need.

I would not be surprised if this story went viral and someone set up a GoFundMe page for Ketrell. People want to reward heroes and Ketrell is definitely one.
