Mariah Carey and Lionel Richie Will Tour Together

Two of the most successful singers of all time will soon be teaming up for a concert tour that is sure to be a huge success. Lionel Richie and Mariah Carey will be performing a total of 35 shows and the tour will get started on March 15th in Baltimore. This will be the first time that the pair of superstars have ever toured together. Lionel Richie first rose to fame as the lead singer and primary songwriter for The Commodores in the 1970s. After writing a string of smash hits for the group, Richie decided to go solo. This proved to be a wise decision. He went on to become one of the biggest selling musical performers of the 1980s. His 1983 album “Can’t Slow Down” sold 10 million copies in the United States and won the Grammy for Album of the Year. Ritchie also teamed up with fellow superstar Michael Jackson to write the “We Are the World” single to benefit impoverished people in Africa. It went on to become the biggest selling song of the 1980s.

Mariah Carey dominated the 1990s pop charts the same way that Ritchie had done in the previous decade. She eventually became the largest selling female solo artist in music history. Two of Carey’s albums have sold more than 10 million copies in the United States alone. There is some anticipation about Ritchie and Carey teaming up on the “Endless Love” duet that Ritchie made famous with Diana Ross in 1981. Carey also did a version of the song with Luther Vandross.
