Dr. Saad Saad on Children Accidentally Swallowing Objects

Dr. Saad Saad has a great amount of advice to help parents or guardians prevent or save children from swallowing small objects. He continues to state the top 4 things children can swallow are batteries, peanuts, hot dogs, and coins. Furthermore, he reiterates how the size differences of these objects get stuck in different areas when a child swallows them. For instance, objects that are sized around peanuts will usually get trapped in a child’s windpipe while hotdogs, batteries, and coins would usually get stuck in a child’s food pipe. In addition for children aged 5 years and younger if they do accidentally swallow an object and start choking there are simple instructions to help remove the child’s blockage. Dr. Saad Saad says to remove the object turn a child over hold them by their legs and tap on their back and this will usually force the child to cough up the object choking them. Finally, he says if the child is 6 years and older to use the Heimlich Maneuver which is what would also be used on an adult choking too.

The inventions of Dr. Saad Saad

Dr. Saad Saad is one of the accomplished medical doctors. He is now a retired pediatric surgeon. He has spent four decades in the profession where he has conducted hundreds of surgical operations. Dr. Saad spent his entire career doing what was good for the industry. He treated all people with respect and ensured that at no time were they discriminated based on color or origin. The health industry is supposed to treat every person as equal. There is no superior race when it comes to medical services. Dr. Saad Saad ensured that he followed this rule to the letter.

Dr. Saad Saad used his knowledge to benefit the people who were in dire need of medical attention. For a refugee cum top medical practitioner in the United States, it was no little achievement. He knew what to be poor means, and that is why he paid close attention to the poor people who were in need of medical services. Dr. Saad ensured that everything that he was doing was done in a manner that would lead to solutions to the challenges his patients faced. He was not after money. In fact, he went to numerous free medical missions in parts of the United States and even in the Middle East. Clearly, he was a man after a mission, and the mission was to ensure that everything that was going on in the industry was done in the right manner.

Dr. Saad Saad has always felt happy when assisting the weak in the society. From his upbringing in the Middle East. He knew what is meant to be poor. So, every time he got an opportunity to offer services to the poor, he felt fulfilled. He spent a huge chunk of his time pushing for better services in the medical industry. All the facilities he worked with had the great services courtesy of his contributions.

After serving in the medical industry for four decades, Dr. Saad Saad left two vital innovations. The first one involved creation of a device that could track the position of the catheter in the body and the second one involved the creation of a suction system for the endoscope.

The first invention was made so that surgeons could stop relying on X-ray scan in tracing the position of the catheter. Exposure to x-ray light for a long period is not advisable as it is likely to lead to some negative impacts. The other invention involved a suction system that would make visibility of internal examinations possible. With these two innovations, Dr. Saad Saad made a huge impact on the industry. These two innovations are patented to his name. The process of manufacturing these two devices in large scale is still ongoing. Learn more: https://ideamensch.com/saad-saad/

Dr. Saad Improves Medical Instruments through Invention

The Medical Daily Times recently published BJ Hetherington’s article “The Life Saving Medical Inventions of Dr. Saad Saad, Pediatric Surgeon”. The article discusses the pediatric surgeon’s recent improvements to existing procedures. He recently patented two inventions while concurrently developing a variety of different surgical procedures. Dr. Saad has been practicing complex surgeries for more than four decades. He not only serves his community in the U.S. but he is also dedicated to helping the children and young adults in other countries, including missions to Jerusalem and the West bank to provide necessary surgeries to the destitute children there.

One of the first patens Dr. Saad obtained for his inventions is the “Catheter with Integral Electromagnetic Location Identification Device”. This catheter broadens the current abilities of the medical catheters. They are inserted to help with a variety of medical conditions while also helping during a surgery by draining fluid or gas and providing access for surgical instruments.

Dr. Saad’s improvement helps track the exact location of the catheter. Previously, a doctor would need to use an X-ray to determine the location of the catheter. This can cause several issues like the risk of illness due to over exposure to radiation. MRI machines were also capable of locating the catheter, but they are not portable.

Dr. Saad’s catheter with a location identification device allows for the precise identification of the catheter through electromagnetic energy. The catheter has a small magnetically permeable part inside of the coil. The doctor simply uses an external device to scan the patient’s body while the catheter sends electromagnetic signals to the device. When the external device lights up, the doctor will know that is where the catheter is.

Dr. Saad has also developed an improvement on endoscopes. These optical devices help doctors and physicians look inside the body of the patient throughout a surgery. They give the physician a visual of what is occurring internally within the body without having to do a scan of the body or perform surgery. However, since the body contains a variety of liquids, the cameras on the endoscopes can often be obscured by the different liquids. Dr. Saad’s invention adds a suction-irrigation device to the endoscope to prevent the liquid from obscuring the view of the endoscope without having to remove the device.

Dr. Saad has personally used his addition to the endoscope throughout his different endoscopies. In his career as a pediatric surgeon, he has seen a variety of foreign bodies lodged in the bodies of young children, including anything from stuck food to marbles or other objects the child may have accidentally swallowed. He reveals that having an endoscope that doesn’t need to be constantly readjusted for the visual can save significant time during the surgery. Learn more: https://medium.com/@dr1saadsaad
