Actor Alan Thicke Dies at the Age of 69

Hollywood has lost an icon of the 1980s. Actor Alan Thicke has passed away at the age of 69. Originally from Canada, Thicke first got into show business as the host of “The Alan Thicke Show” in the early 1980s. He then made his way to Hollywood where he would achieve his greatest fame. He played Dr. Jason Seaver on the ABC sitcom “Growing Pains” from 1984 to 1992. The show was a smash hit and made Thicke one of the most beloved dads in American TV history.

Thicke died after suffering a heart attack when he was playing hockey with Carter, his 19-year-old son. Thicke is also the father of musician Robin Thicke. Robin’s song “Blurred Lines” was a major international hit. Robin has said to several media outlets that his father was the nicest man he had ever known. The outpouring from people who Thicke had worked with has been truly overwhelming. This is a testament to how much Alan was liked in the show business community.

Alan was still acting on a regular basis. He was featured in the “Fuller House” second season on Netflix. He also made an appearance on the hit drama “This Is Us” on NBC. Thicke was known for being a very easy person to work with. He could take direction easily and did not bring a lot of the drama with him that is associated with today’s big stars. Thicke was on his third marriage and is survived by three children who are all adults.
