Danielle Herrington Follows in Tyra Banks’ Footsteps

Danielle Herrington appeared on the Winter 2018 edition of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit issue wearing a small pink bikini and showing off her long, curly hair. Herrington is the third black woman to ever appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Tyra Banks was the first model to appear on the cover of the magazine 21 years ago. Beyonce graced the cover in 2007.

24-year-old Herrington is new to the modeling business, and the Sports Illustrated cover was her first major photo shoot. In an interview with Michael Strahan of Good Morning America, Herrington explained how she got started in modeling. She took modeling classes during high school which helped to build her confidence. She then chose to pursue modeling with Sports Illustrated after watching The Tyra Banks Show, stating that she wanted to be just like Banks.

Banks reached out to Herrington to congratulate her on her success of landing the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine. Danielle watched a live video feed of Banks on the Good Morning America show on February 13, 2018. Banks told Herrington that her life would change, and that young girls would feel inspired by her. Banks explained that there are many people who tell girls that they are not good enough, and can’t achieve their goals, but Herrington is proof that they can suceed. Herrington said that receiving Banks’ message made her feel amazing.
