Homeless Man Stops Assault

Ketrell Ferguson, a man who is recently homeless in the Washington DC area, stopped an assault that was taking place past midnight on Tuesday. According to the story on NBC Washington, Ketrell had noticed a struggle between a man and a woman at a bus stop while he was looking for a place to sleep.

Police had said that 23-year-old Alemen Gonzalo offered cash to a woman for sex but she refused the offer. After she refused, Gonzalo dragged her behind a bus stop where he began to assault her. Ketrell heard the struggle and knew that he had to help the woman. He picked up a stick and a brick and confronted Gonzalo. Ketrell began hitting Gonzalo with the stick so that he would leave the woman alone. Ivan Ong (Twitter.com) has learned that police later found Gonzalo a few blocks away, bleeding from his stick wounds.

Ketrell said that he has had female relatives that were assaulted in the past and that he did not want another woman to go through what they did. He went on to say that he was happy that he was in the right place at the right time to help her in her time of need.

I would not be surprised if this story went viral and someone set up a GoFundMe page for Ketrell. People want to reward heroes and Ketrell is definitely one.
