Kim Kardashian Heads To The White House

Professional spokesperson and reality TV star Kim Kardashian is set to visit the White House to discuss prison reform with President Trump. Prison reform is a pet topic for presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner, whose father Charles spent a year in prison for a variety of charges that included tax evasion and witness tampering. According to press reports, Kardashian and Kushner have been privately planning a visit for months.

Kushner has been working behind the scenes to get a bill called the First Step Act, which would provide resources that makes it easier for recently released prisoners to reintegrate in society. One part of the bill gives prisoners increased opportunities to serve out part of their sentence in a halfway house. Kushner’s father served about half of his two-year sentence in a halfway house in New Jersey.

After her meeting with Kushner, Kardashian is set meet with President Trump to discuss prison reform. Specifically, she is expected to request that he issue a pardon for a woman who is currently serving a life sentence for a first-time drug offense. While it’s not known whether he will agree to that request, the President has said he will sign the First Step Act if it makes it to his desk. The bill recently passed the House with a bipartisan vote of 360-59 vote. It’s now headed to the Senate.
