Millionaire Adopts 75 Kids, Loses Fortune

Businesswoman Li Lijuan has lost millions of dollars, but that doesn’t stop her from doing what is right. Lijuan made millions from various investments in the 1980s, but has since landed herself more than $200,000 in debt after she adopted more than 75 orphaned children.

Yes, you read that correctly: 75 children. Lijuan, who must have a heart of gold and the patience of a saint, began adopting the children in 1994. Lijuan began taking in children whose parents were deceased or who were abandoned due to health difficulties.

The 46-year-old woman lost her savings when the business she had invested in closed down without warning, leaving her with many children to support and no income. She didn’t let the fear of debt stop her, however. Lijuan then began selling off other properties, as well as valuables that she possessed.

Help has poured forward to the especially extended family, but China’s laws have prevented her from accepting much of the help; particularly offers to “re-home” the children.

Despite her own personal health scares, Lijuan has managed to continue advocating for the children, working with numerous charity groups to help support the family’s extensive needs.

Thanks to my investment banker Steve Murray for showing me this.
