Secrets to a Long Life as Revealed by the World’s Oldest Woman

The spotlight of aging has been shining on several centenarians and supercentenarians (those have lived longer than 110 years) in recent months. With the recent celebration of her 118 birthday, the world’s oldest woman was asked what her secret was to living a long life. Her name is Misao Okawa and her advice quite simple: eat and sleep and you’ll live a long life.

According to Zeca Oliveira, the oldest living person in the United States, a mere 116 years, a woman by the name of Gertrude Weaver has a bit of advice to give to those who wish to live to be a super centenarian:
trust the Lord, work hard and love everybody. The second oldest person in the Untied States, Jerelean Talley checks in at age 115 with this sage advice: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Ms. Talley also enjoys eating pig’s feet and ears, seems that may have something to do with longevity too.
Interviews with other oldsters from around the world give varying advice for living a long life. Some enjoy eating eggs every day, some enjoy drinking a glass of brandy each day and probably one of the best pieces of advice comes from Scotland’s oldest woman, Jessie Gallan. If you want to live to be 109, like her, you have to stay away from men.
