Thomas Jane Joins ‘The Predator’

Thomas Jane, known for leading roles in The Punisher, The Mist, Deep Blue Sea, Dreamcatcher, and the TV series Hung, is joining the cast of Shane Black’s The Predator in an unknown role. The film, which is said to be a direct sequel to the first Predator film, is set for release on February 9, 2018. Jane joins an already stellar cast, featuring Newsroom‘s Olivia Munn, Boyd Holbrook of Narcos, Key and Peele‘s Keegan-Michael Key, Moonlight‘s breakout star Trevante Rhodes, and Emmy Award-winner Sterling K. Brown. Shane Black is the director behind 2005’s Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, 2013’s Iron Man 3, and 2016’s The Nice Guys. Despite being regarded as one of the best comedies of last year, The Nice Guys wasn’t exactly a huge hit for the director and its two lead stars, Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe.

Jane recently starred in Relativity Media’s much-delayed horror flick, Before I Wake, opposite Kate Bosworth. Relativity has experienced significant financial difficulties in recent years, and after delaying the film’s release four times, the studio abruptly pulled the film from it’s September 9, 2016, release date. Not much is known about the plot of The Predator, but given the talent that the film’s director has for creative storytelling and potent visuals, it’s not much of a stretch to predict that the movie may provide Jane with his biggest hit in years.
